Fundamentals of storyboarding
- Every frame represents a camera shot / 3-5 of running time
- Use XCU, CU, MCU, MS, MLS, LS, XLS descriptions and appropriate sketch depth.
- Use squares and circles to depict body parts if uncomfortable with realistic sketching (NO STICK FIGURES)
- Hollow arrows to depict camera movement (if applicable). Line arrows to show character / object movement within frame.
- Note sound inclusion where applicable (sound f/x, music, narration)

Finish your three versions of your magazine covers
Next Photoshop assignment:
Get one of the Art & Design in Photoshop books at the end of your row. There are sets of five at the end of each row.
Beginning on pg. 43, there are guides for particular Photoshop effects. Choose one, and use a picture of yourself from your photoshoot, and complete one of the tutorials. Mac keyboard commands are in red.
Watch these videos on Types of Shots, and these shots as well. If you don't watch them in class, watch them for homework
We will begin video production and editing on Wednesday

Open up one of your pictures in Photoshop, and begin your first draft of the Photoshop magazine cover project
Goal: to understand the convention of magazine covers and design a magazine cover featuring you. Your covers (2) will adhere to the better sensibilities of design (CRAP), and will be a creative extension of who you are.
1) In your sketches design two cover drafts, complete with detail of text. Your cover title can be known or fictitious. The story references must be about you in some way.
2) Your magazine cover designs [please produce three versions that show different vision approaches] should demonstrate...
a) an understanding of repetition, alignment, contrast and proximity
b) a clever or cohesive relationship between the main photography and text.
A few invaluable hints:
If you find a font you like, think about using different shapes of it on the cover
Include a UPC (universal product code) on your cover
