Shelter in Place messages and lessons
March 23 Update
Mr Kinunen (or Mr K, as I'm known) here, to check in with all you Foundations Spring 2020 students... Mr Evans knows you far better than me, and I'm going to check in with you all here, and will be guiding you through the rest of the semester. I look forward to and hope to get to know you, whether it is remotely or back in the classroom (which I'm hoping for).
For now, WHS administration as asked that we teachers not assign any additional work to you during these first two weeks of sheltering in place, until April 7th. I will be updating my communication here in the meantime, and suggesting you some interesting things you can do while you're at home.
Mostly, I hope for you and your families to be safe and healthy. I'll be updating later this week. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me here

Over the next 5 weeks you are going to do two projects
Project #3) A Selfie Movie
Project #2B) A Final Draft Magazine Cover
Selfie Movie:
You are going to make a short video about yourself using Premier Pro. Your goal is to create a 30 second video that artistically introduces yourself, with each 5 seconds representing a different element of who you are. Check out the demos.
Here are the parts:
HD 720 video from Photo Booth
Objects that you have cut out in PS that you animate
Animated words that assist in each scene
Music of your choice; sound effects if you'd like
Today:
Mr Evans will show you some samples of the project
Mr Evans will introduce you to the Premier Pro interface:
Fundamentals of storyboarding
Begin your storyboards. There should be six frames filled in, one for each five seconds: an intro frame, and the five different vignettes.
Have your five personal traits or interests picked out. You can use traits you picked for your first Photoshop project
Think of what you would like to act out for each trait
What words would you like to animate, and how will they move?
What objects would you like to include in your 5 vignettes?
Homework:
Finish your storyboards for homework. They will be checked this Thursday.

- what the different windows are: source monitor, program monitor, timeline, tools, browser
- how to import a simple clip, and move a portion of it into the timeline
- the basics of building a timeline, demonstrating layers with multiple videos and word generation
Fundamentals of storyboarding
- Every frame represents a camera shot / 3-5 of running time
- Use XCU, CU, MCU, MS, MLS, LS, XLS descriptions and appropriate sketch depth.
- Use squares and circles to depict body parts if uncomfortable with realistic sketching (NO STICK FIGURES)
- Hollow arrows to depict camera movement (if applicable). Line arrows to show character / object movement within frame.
- Note sound inclusion where applicable (sound f/x, music, narration)
